As you may already know, you need to have healthy gums if you want a strong and successful oral health. So, it’s important to keep your oral tissues in tip-top shape each day. However, we understand that that might be a difficult task if you’re not sure how to take good care of your gums. So, to help you, our Montgomery Dentistry team recommends that you do the following things on a regular basis:

-Brush: Brush your teeth twice each day for two minutes each time. Make sure to thoroughly scrub each tooth and do your best to remove the plaque and food particles that reside on your teeth. As you brush, use a soft-bristled toothbrush and fluoride toothpaste. These tools will work to eliminate the particles that threaten your gums and will also take good care of your oral tissues while doing so.

-Floss: Floss your teeth at least once a day. Flossing will help you clean away the plaque that lives between your teeth and harms your gums. As you floss, please be patient and gentle. If you are quick and rough, there is a chance the strand of floss could damage your gums.

-Rinse: Rinse your mouth daily with antibacterial mouthwash. Doing so will help you kill the bacteria and germs that can cause major issues for your gums. As you rinse, make sure to follow the instructions on the bottle.

-Eat right: If your teeth are healthy, so are your gums. So, it’s best to keep your teeth in tip-top shape by avoiding the sugary and acidic foods and beverages that can harm your smile.

-Visit the dentist: It’s very important to visit your dentist every six months for a professional dental cleaning. This treatment will remove the dangerous tartar that lives on your teeth and irritates, infects, and damages your gums.
